The Memphis Grizzlies hosted a neighborhood block party last Thursday at Greenbrook Lake Park from 5 to 7 p.m. Grizzlies fans of all ages were invited to meet guard Kyle Lowry, who signed autographs.
Jackson Brown Revue provided live entertainment. Inflatable games, interactive elements, face painters, ballon artists, a merchandise stand, and dance team members were on hand to help tip-off the start of a new season with the Grizzlies. The first 250 fans were treated with free pizza, and free samples of Pepsi were available for everyone in attendance throughout the block party.
The block parties give Grizzlies players and coaches a chance to meet, mingle, take photos, sign autographs and get up close and personal with their new neighbors during the block party festivities.
Fans signed up for the Grizzlies E-News during the party, and will receive a free preseason ticket. They also registered to receive exclusive Grizzlies information throughout the year.
Lowry, a second year player from Villanova, loves to meet young people and is always willing to answer questions they may ask him.
“Anytime you get a chance to talk to young fans, it’s great,”
Lowry said. “One of the fun things about coming to these neighborhood parties is interacting with the kids.”
He says the team is always appreciative of all the support they receive throughout the Mid-South.
“We’re always happy to come down to Desoto County and thank the fans for all the support they’ve given us.”
The Grizzlies will host their next block party today from 5 to 7 p.m. in East Memphis at Bert Ferguson Park. Another block party is scheduled for Thursday at H.W. Cox Park in East Shelby County/Fayette County.
All fans are invited to join Grizzlies players, coaches, executives, dance team members, and fellow neighbors.
In case of inclement weather, the Grizzlies neighborhood block parties will still take place in these locations, but only feature an autograph session with a Grizzlies’ player.
